Cronos: The New Dawn’s First Gameplay Reveal Is a Terrifying Dive Into Sci-Fi Horror

Ever since Cronos: The New Dawn was announced, I’ve been keeping a close eye on it, waiting, watching, and hoping for more details to emerge. Now, with Bloober Team’s release of the first extended gameplay footage, not only has my interest been piqued even further, but the wait for this game just got a whole lot harder.

Bloober Team, the studio behind Layers of Fear and The Medium, has finally revealed a chilling, yet epic awesome 10-minute look at its upcoming sci-fi horror game, Cronos: The New Dawn. This extended gameplay video gives fans a brutal and unsettling taste of what’s to come, and it’s giving me Dead Space vibes.

Check out the gameplay footage below.

What is Cronos: The New Dawn?

Cronos: The New Dawn follows The Traveler, an agent of a dystopian future Collective who travels through time to rescue people doomed to die in an upcoming apocalypse. Guided by the cryptic journal of their predecessor, ND 3500, players will navigate between two timelines: a crumbling future and 1980s Poland. The real-world inspiration, particularly the eerie Nowa Huta district of Kraków, grounds the horror in a disturbingly familiar reality, distorted by brutalist architecture and reality-breaking anomalies.

Switching between eras isn’t just for narrative flavor; it directly affects how you navigate the game world. Time is not your ally; it’s a tool, a weapon, and sometimes, your only way out.

If this early look is anything to go by, Cronos: The New Dawn is shaping up to be one of the most intense and innovative horror experiences on the horizon. Between its deeply disturbing enemies, innovative mechanics, and that ever-looming sense of dread, Bloober Team might be sitting on something truly special here.

Cronos: The New Dawn currently does not have a release date, but will be released for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store).
