Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora Adds Third-Person Mode and New Game+ This December

Avatar Frontier of Pandora

I played Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora when it launched, and while I was impressed by its visuals and how well it captured the spirit of the franchise, the gameplay didn’t offer anything particularly unique. That said, I still enjoyed my time with it, even if it didn’t hold my attention long enough to finish. Ever since building a new gaming PC, I’ve been tempted to revisit it—and now, thanks to Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment, I finally have a reason to jump back in.

Ubisoft has announced a third-person update for Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, arriving on December 5, 2025. This new feature lets players explore Pandora from a fresh perspective—literally—with the option to toggle third-person view at any time. Whether you’re traversing the world, engaging in combat, or simply admiring the scenery, this mode adds a renewed sense of scale, immersion, and freedom.

Massive Entertainment has also overhauled the game’s animations, controls, audio, and camera systems to make the experience feel natural and seamless.

The update also introduces New Game+, allowing players to replay the story while retaining their gear and skills. The mode ramps up the difficulty with tougher enemies, a new skill tree, and more powerful loot—perfect for seasoned players looking for a fresh challenge.

Since launch, Ubisoft has steadily improved Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora with performance upgrades, quality-of-life changes, and narrative content. The game has already received two story expansions:

  • The Sky Breaker, where players compete in the great Na’vi games and witness the zakru migration
  • Secrets of the Spires, which unlocks a breath-taking mountainous region built to elevate banshee flight

Other updates have included a revamped Hunter’s Guide, a smoother 40 FPS mode, and rebalanced combat.

To celebrate the upcoming update, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is currently on sale for a limited time (availability may vary by platform). With the new third-person mode dropping just before the release of Avatar: Fire and Ash on December 19, 2025, there’s never been a better time to jump into the world of Pandora.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora is available now on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Ubisoft Connect.
