If you weren’t already hyped for NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound, the latest gameplay trailer might push you over the edge (The Razer’s Edge… sorry, I had to do it).
Dotemu and The Game Kitchen have just dropped 14 minutes of new footage, and it’s got everything you’d want in a 2D ninja action game—tight platforming, stylish combat, massive boss encounters, and enough slashing to keep your screen stained red. But the best part? The demo’s been updated with some of this new content, so if you’ve already played it, it’s time to jump back in.
This new gameplay slice follows Kenji and Kumori, two rival ninjas who are now working together because, well, demons. The footage runs through a high-rise construction site packed with enemies and environmental hazards, all while being hunted by a boss named Rhyvashi. She’s relentless—throwing out claw swipes, AoE blasts, electric orbs, and even interrupting your progress with a damn bulldozer chase.
The level ends in a brutal underground showdown with Rhyvashi, forcing you to read her patterns and dodge perfectly between attacks. You can play as either character, and they both bring different playstyles to the fight. This isn’t just a button-masher—you need precision, timing, and a little patience to survive.
Outside of combat, the trailer dives into the upgrade and shop systems. You can snag Talismans to boost your passive abilities or unlock Secret Arts that let you go full offense. Whether you want to play defensively or melt enemies with flashy specials, there’s room to build the ninja you want.
There’s also developer commentary throughout the video from The Game Kitchen team, breaking down their level design philosophy, the collectible systems, and even some of the optional challenges you’ll run into in the full game. It’s a nice touch and gives a better look at how much care is going into Ragebound’s design.
But seriously—the biggest news here is the demo expansion. If you played the original version and thought, “That was cool, but I want more,” well, now you’ve got it. The updated demo includes parts of this new level, so go check it out while we wait for the full release.
