There has always been a “video game curse” when it comes to adapting things to the big or small screen. However, one of the eternal defiers of this rule is Pokemon. Ever since Ash Ketchum debuted in 1997, fans have been enamored with his journey, and the anime that birthed him got so popular that it eventually went to the big screen for a few films. The first one was aptly titled Pokemon The First Movie. It featured the story of Mewtwo (who had been shown in the anime via his connection with Giovanni and Team Rocket), and the movie fleshed that out in full.
Mewtwo’s status as one of the coolest Pokemon ever was cemented thanks to this film, and it has one of the saddest moments in anime history via the “stone” scene.
