If you are like me and watched the NTE stream a few weeks ago, one of the things in that Neverness to Everness stream might have caught your eye, the Gacha fair. This is completely different than other Gacha systems, though it does use similar rates as all of them. I got time in the containment test to be able to play, and the dice fair is extremely fun.
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS BASED ON A CONTAINMENT TEST. AT LAUNCH, THE GAME MAY BE DIFFERENT.
Fair
The Gacha system in place that I was able to play used a Dice Fair. This fair puts your character on a game board with a lot of chests on the path. You roll the dice and it your character moves that many spaces on the board. You can land on a bunch of different spaces.
- Apprentice Chest – This is the most frequent space; it is a purple suitcase it has an incredibly small chance of being an S-class character or an A-class character. It is likely to be a low-grade B-class arc.
- Hero Chest – The second most frequent space. These are golden suitcases. The rate of getting an S-Class Character or an A-class character is higher than an apprentice chest, but it is still a very low rate.
- A-Class Cards – These spaces guarantee you the character featured on the card.
- Warp Piece – These will give you extra warp chess pieces. You can use this currency in the Fair Shop.
- Miracle Box – This is a black box with a question mark over the top of it. These will give you a guaranteed A-class Arc.
- S-Class Card – This guarantees you an S-Class Character; if it is on the limited banner, it will be the specific character in that banner.
- Dice – This gives you an extra die you can roll.
You may notice on the full map that there are locations that diverge. If you land on a space directly next to a convergence, you unlock the rainbow bridge. On one side of the map, there is a guaranteed S-Class card that is permanently on the first space next to the rainbow bridge; on the other side, you can get 5 extra dice to add to your stockpile of rolls.
When you get to 70 rolls of the dice on the same banner and you haven’t gotten an S-class character, the Hero Chests on the board all turn into guaranteed S-Class card spaces. It becomes much easier to get an S-class character. If you have done 89 dice rolls and you haven’t gotten an S-Class card, it won’t roll the dice, and the fair just gives you an S-Class character guaranteed.
You have a chance to summon a guardian when you land on a few designated spaces. This guardian will appear nine spaces away from you and will move two spaces each turn. If you can catch the guardian before he disappears after three dice rolls, then you will get a stockpile of Warp Chess Pieces.
Overall, the Neverness To Everness Gacha system is pretty much the same in terms of what is going on behind the scenes as other Gacha systems. This however turns the rates into a fun game you can see all the magic happening in front of your face. It made me less likely to skip my rolls and just watch the events unfold. I would get upset sometimes if I didn’t get a bridge or if I rolled low while the guardian popped up. It was an experience in itself.
Neverness To Everness is having a containment test right now for a beta. You can read more about that in my article earlier last month. NTE is in development for PC, console, and mobile. More information is available via the NTE website, or by following the game on Twitter and joining the official Discord server.
