If you know me, you’ll know that I’m a huge movie lover having taken weekly trips to the cinema for well over a decade at this point. I watch anything and everything, for better or worse. Then a few years ago I decided to start a collection of 4K Blu-rays for my favourite movies and some highly recommended restorations of the classics.

So, after some initial research into the best 4K players and the must have Blu-Rays, I found Jeff Rauseo on YouTube at the time his channel was called Films At Home. It didn’t take long before I became a huge fan, at the time Jeff focused on 4K Blu-Ray reviews which is exactly what I needed. A while after I began to watch Jeff started a podcast where he got to have some amazing conversations with fellow cinephiles, movie creators, restoration companies and more. It was here that his true love for films really came to light and his love for the movie Jingle All The Way is something I absolutely share.

Which is why the moment I heard he was writing a book about the current state of the movie industry and how streaming services have impacted the way we consume the medium. I was immediately intrigued.

Here’s what the press release from Mango Publishing says regarding Lost In The Stream by Jeff Rauseo:

What happens when movies become “content,” and the art of discovery is reduced to a scroll? In Lost in the Stream: How Algorithms Redefined the Way Movies Are Made and Watched (Mango Publishing, August 12, 2025, debut author, film enthusiast, and creator Jeff Rauseo unpacks the cultural cost of convenience in the streaming era.
Blending media history, sharp cultural commentary, and personal memoir, Lost in the Stream traces the rise of algorithms, the fall of video stores, and the evolving role of physical media in preserving film literacy. With over a million followers across social platforms, Rauseo has become a trusted voice for cinephiles trying to navigate an increasingly fractured media landscape.

Whether you’re a lifelong collector or a casual streamer, Rauseo invites you to rethink how you choose, watch, and connect with film—and what’s at stake when we let the algorithm decide.

I can’t wait to read this book because it tackles a subject I believe is deeply important but often ignored. The content war and it’s effect on creativity and discovery.

Lost In The Stream can be purchased now ahead of its release in August and should be available wherever you buy your books. In the meantime, if you aren’t familiar with Jeff Rauseo but you love movies I’d highly recommend checking out his YouTube Channel.

Jordan has been playing games since the age of six. This ignited a passion which initially led him towards game development before trying his hand in the realm of games media, starting in 2022. It turns out he's quite good at it, even if he doesn't always believe in himself. Now, just a few short years later, not only is Jordan a valued member of our staff here at The Outerhaven, but he also co-owns and helps to run Analog Stick Gaming.
