Helldivers 2 Invades Xbox Series X|S This August 2025

A new dawn is upon us. Super Earth is expanding its operations and opening new enlistment centers. Finally, after months of requests and wishful thinking, Helldivers 2 is making its way to Xbox Series X|S on August 26, 2025.

*Update – You know, I just realized that while Helldivers 2 is hitting the Xbox Series X|S on August 26, 2025, Gears of Wars: Reloaded is making its way to the PlayStation 5 on the same date. That’s one hell of a coincidence, and quite frankly, a win for gamers on both platforms.*

Originally released on February 8, 2024, Helldivers 2 has been available on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam since day one. And while PlayStation fans have proudly defended Super Earth alongside their PC comrades, Xbox players have been left on the sidelines, but that’s all about to change in two months. You can also pre-order the game by heading over to Xbox’s online store or on your console.

With this launch, not only do we see Helldivers 2 crossing console lines, but it becomes one of the rare PlayStation first-party titles to break through the so-called console wars. Finally, more players can answer the call, bring freedom and democracy to the galaxy, and enjoy the sheer chaos that Helldivers 2 is known for.

Here’s what Helldivers 2 Game Director Mikael Eriksson had to say about the title arriving on Xbox.

“We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game. We have so much more in store for the future months and years — and the more players we have the more stories we can tell! The fight for Super Earth has only just begun.”

What truly sweetens the pot is that Helldivers 2 supports crossplay across PlayStation 5, PC, and now Xbox Series X|S. That means no matter where you game, you can team up with friends or randoms and spread that democracy we love to scream about so much, amongst the stars. This is one of the rare multiplayer gems that unites PlayStation, Xbox, and PC players under a single banner and perhaps a shower of friendly fire.

I do have a question regarding whether the game will need to tie into the PlayStation Network, similar to how all those PlayStation PC ports had to, until it became optional. I don’t see any mention of PSN on the Xbox store. It will be interesting to see how that all plays out.

Just don’t get your hopes up for a custom Helldivers 2 controller, just like there was for the PlayStation 5. Though it would be nice, wouldn’t it?
