Hideo Kojima Wants to Be the First to Make a Video Game in Space, Taking Risks Like Tom Cruise

Hideo Kojima, the creator of Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding, is known for his creative and ambitious ideas. But his latest statement might surprise even his biggest fans.

At the Sydney Film Festival, Kojima revealed that he wants to be the first developer in history to create a video game in space.

“I want to train properly, learn how to do the docking, go to the International Space Station and stay there for a few months,” he said. “I’m not a scientist, but I could probably make games in space. I want to be the first. There are a lot of astronauts over 60, so I guess it’s possible.” Kojima also joked that developing games in space might cause him less back pain than working on Earth.

He also mentioned that he would like to put his life at risk, much like Tom Cruise does when filming dangerous scenes for the Mission: Impossible movies. “It’s Tom Cruise disease. Tom Cruise finds out his worth when living with his life on the line,” Kojima said.

Although he hasn’t explained in detail why he wants to develop a game in space or take such risks, it’s clear that his ambition knows no limits.
