Monolith Soft Had An Increase In Profit Over The Last Fiscal Year

Well, yeah, they're that good!
By Todd BlackJuly 1, 2025
Monolith Soft, Nintendo

Easily the biggest thing that separates Nintendo from the other two big console makers is that they have a dedicated set of teams that consistently crank out great content and help fill their consoles with incredible games. One such team was recently revealed to be the squad behind the upcoming Donkey Kong Bananza, and we know that other teams are working hard on other projects. One such team is Monolith Soft, which serves a multi-faceted role in Nintendo, between creating original games and assisting on other titles. The team revealed a briefing on their profits over the last fiscal year, and it was a positive reveal:

Monolith Soft announced their profit for this fiscal year increased by 19% to ¥487m ($3.37m), up from ¥409 million ($2.83m) in the last fiscal year. They not only develop the Xenoblade series, but they manage a critical Nintendo 1st Party support studio.nintendosoup.com/monolith-sof…

This only includes 10 days of Xenoblade Chronicles X sales. Besides Monolith Soft Kyoto's work supporting other 1st Party Nintendo games, the Tokyo branch is hard at work developing a large scale RPG for Switch 2.

The fact that this only includes a tiny part of the Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition (read my review!) sales highlights how much they’re doing in other areas. Plus, that means that it didn’t include the success of Mario Kart World, of which they helped develop.

Monolith Soft has been very vocal about its current status, noting that they aren’t just growing, but the team wants to push itself even further with its game development. With the Nintendo Switch 2 having MUCH more power than the OG Switch, many are eager to see what its next RPG will be.
