Donkey Kong Bananza Already Topping Amazon Sales Charts

By Todd BlackJune 21, 2025
Donkey Kong Bananza

This week’s news cycle has absolutely been dominated by the Nintendo Switch 2 (via its Japan sales numbers) and Donkey Kong Bananza (via its Direct on Wednesday). Both of them have been on an “upward trajectory,” especially regarding DK’s new title. It went from being a “game people would likely get” to “a game that people want NOW!!!!” The best part is that that’s not hyperbole, but a proven statement, as new sales data from Amazon states that the game is currently the #1 “best-selling physical game” on the US branch of the website:

Donkey Kong Bananza is currently the #1 best selling physical game on Amazon US. Nintendo and Amazon US made up just in time for one of the biggest releases of the year.

Admittedly, that doesn’t mean it’s going to sell “millions upon millions” of units, but it can be seen as a good benchmark for what will come sales-wise. After all, Amazon is where a lot of people buy video games, consoles, and accessories. Plus, if it’s selling well enough here, it’s likely selling “well enough” in other areas.

The interesting thing here is that it’s going to be hard to guess how well the game will sell at launch. The Switch version of DKC Tropical Freeze sold basically 5 million units. As of now, though, the Switch 2 is likely hovering around 5 million sold, so it’s unlikely that it would have a 100% attachment rate. Could it get close to that? Sure! That’s how big the hype is for this title since the Direct. Nintendo is even putting out demos in stores so that players can get their hands on it and see just how unique it is compared to past titles.

All roads lead to July 17th, when Donkey Kong Bananza arrives on Nintendo Switch 2.
