SEGA and ATLUS have officially announced that Persona 5: The Phantom X (P5X), launching on June 26, 2025, will feature none other than Joker, the protagonist from Persona 5, as a playable character right from the start.

As if that wasn’t enough to hype fans up, a Persona 5-themed event will also roll out with the launch. This event will include exclusive content and the return of familiar faces, including members of the Phantom Thieves of Hearts from Persona 5.

To mark the occasion, Jun Fukuyama, the voice of Joker, recorded a special message and gameplay video. The video offers a glimpse at Joker in action and sets the stage for what’s shaping up to be a major expansion of the Persona 5 universe. So, if you’re interested in what this game has to cover, check it out.

What Is Persona 5: The Phantom X?

Persona 5: The Phantom X is a free-to-play spin-off for mobile and PC that builds on the foundation of Persona 5, introducing a new protagonist, fresh characters, and a brand-new story. Developed by Perfect World Games with oversight from SEGA and ATLUS, the game mixes classic turn-based combat, dungeon crawling, and social simulation elements, all within the signature style of the Persona series.

It’s not a direct sequel, but it ties heavily into the original game’s themes and world, making it feel like a natural continuation for fans. Think of it as a new chapter in the Phantom Thieves’ legacy. If you’re a fan of Persona 5 and Joker, and couldn’t get enough of either, it might warrant giving Persona 5: The Phantom X, a try.

Persona 5: The Phantom X launches on June 26, 2025, for Apple iOS, Google Android, and PC (Steam).
