Tommy february⁶ is once again capturing the world’s attention—this time, powered by a new generation of digital creators. Her iconic Y2K anthem “Lonely in Gorgeous︎,” originally released in 2005 as the opening theme to the beloved anime Paradise Kiss (based on the hit manga by Ai Yazawa), the Japanese hit song has made a stunning comeback. Since last year, the track has gone viral on TikTok across the globe, inspiring a wave of user-generated content and racking up over 1.6 billion views—and counting.
From North and South America to the U.K., Canada, China, and South Korea, young creators are using the song to soundtrack Y2K-inspired fashion and makeup videos. Influential artists, including Doja Cat and TWICE’s Nayeon have posted Tommy february⁶-inspired looks on social media, while Charli XCX recently cited her as a favorite alongside Perfume. Long admired as a cultural icon, Tommy february⁶ continues to enchant global audiences with her bold aesthetic and nostalgic sound.
To celebrate this cultural resurgence, Tommy february⁶ is teaming up with SURF MUSIC—a creator-first platform for global music licensing and discovery—for an official remix competition, open to producers and artists around the world.
How to Participate:
- Creators interested in entering must first register for a SURF Music account under:
SURF Starter, SURF Plus, or SURF Pro (https://app.discover.surf). - Once registered, creators can download the official stems from the Contest page, remix to their heart’s content, and upload their finished remix to the platform before the deadline.
- There are no limits on genre. Whether you want to add new rap verses, change the melody, update the lyrics, or reimagine the track entirely, it’s all fair game. However, please note: since Fuji Pacific Music holds 100% of the composition and lyric rights, no royalties will be generated from any newly written parts.
- Submissions will be reviewed and judged by a panel from Sony Music, Fuji Pacific Music, and SURF Music.
Grand Prize:
- Compensation: 2,500 USD (The Grand Prize work will be subject to a buyout agreement)
- Official Release: The winning remix will be released digitally under Tommy february⁶ via Sony Music Labels.
- Grand Prix Selection: The winner will be selected by Tommy february⁶’s sound producer Shunsaku Okuda, along with staff from Sony Music, Fuji Pacific Music, and SURF MUSIC.
Submission Guidelines:
- Submissions must be original remixes not previously published or submitted elsewhere.
- Only one submission per creator.
- All submissions must be suitable for commercial release (final audio quality required).
- All metadata and files must be submitted by July 13, 2025, 23:59 (JST).
- You may add new lyrics, melodies, or parts (raps, vocal lines, etc.), but all third-party materials (samples, performances, voices) must be fully cleared at your own responsibility and expense.
- Any unauthorized use of unlicensed materials will disqualify the submission.
- Offensive, defamatory, or discriminatory content is strictly prohibited.
- SURF, Sony Music, and Fuji Pacific reserve the right to disqualify submissions that violate contest rules or ethical standards.

- All rights to submissions, including any edits or additions, will belong to Sony Music Labels, Inc.
