Backyard Baseball ’97 Drops Onto PS5 and Nintendo Switch!

The Power of Pablo Compels You!
By Todd BlackJune 12, 2025
Backyard Sports, Backyard Baseball

What video games do you remember from your youth that you truly feel you could play today and not be bored with? For me, and many others, Backyard Baseball and the other Backyard Sports titles would be in that category. They were simple yet beautifully handled titles that you could play on a computer and have a blast with. I played pretty much every version that came out, so when it was announced that the series would return via remasters (and potentially a new entry), I was thrilled. Today, though, that excitement gets taken to a new level, as the first game in the series is now on console!

For those who have a PS5 or Nintendo Switch, you can get Backyard Baseball ’97 right now and enjoy the beauty of the classic title, while also getting some fun modern updates.

In a statement released for the console launch, Playground Productions CEO Lindsay Barnett stated:

“Whether you grew up playing on a family desktop or are just discovering the magic for the first time, this game’s pick-up-and-play charm, funny characters, and nostalgic art style remain unrivaled. It’s an incredible retro game that celebrates the joy of play, and we’re proud to bring it to kids and families everywhere – in the living room or on the go.”

What a time to be alive, right? If you’re game, pun intended, to try this title out, check out the console launch trailer below!
