Neon Inferno Blazes Toward October Release, Demo Available Now

Neon Inferno is officially bringing its high-octane brand of cyberpunk shootouts to PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and Steam on October 2, 2025. The upcoming side-scrolling shooter from Philly-based indie publisher Retroware and developer Zenovia Interactive will launch digitally, with a physical release planned through Limited Run Games, which should please collectors and fans of physical media.

To mark the occasion, an all-new gameplay trailer has been released, offering a slick new look at Neon Inferno’s intense, neon-soaked action. Drawing inspiration from classics like Contra, Metal Slug, and Wild Guns, the game looks to deliver a modern twist on the retro shooter formula.

In the game, players take control of assassins Angelo Morano and Mariana Vitti, mowing down waves of cyber-gangsters, corrupt cops, and larger-than-life bosses throughout a dystopian New York City. The gameplay highlights blistering gunfights, acrobatic bullet deflection, and some truly screen-filling enemy encounters, all wrapped in a gorgeous cyberpunk aesthetic.

We had the opportunity to go hands-on with an early demo of Neon Inferno not long ago, and came away impressed by what we played. The game nails the fast-paced feel of old-school arcade shooters while layering in enough modern polish and style to keep things fresh.

If you haven’t had a chance to try it for yourself yet, now’s the perfect time. A new playable demo is available as part of Steam Next Fest, giving players an early taste of what’s to come when Neon Inferno drops this Fall 2025. If you’re a fan of retro-inspired run-and-gun action, make sure you don’t miss out on the demo during Steam Next Fest!
