Microsoft Reportedly Plans More Xbox Layoffs in the Coming Weeks

Microsoft Reportedly Plans More Xbox Layoffs in the Coming Weeks

According to Tom Warren from The Verge, Microsoft’s job cuts are not over yet. New layoffs might be announced in the next few weeks, and they could affect employees in the Xbox division.

In May, Microsoft laid off about 6,000 people, which was 3% of its total workforce. Some Xbox employees were also affected. Warren now reports that another 300 employees, mostly from the legal division, have been laid off. Further cuts in the gaming sector could happen by the end of June.

Employees at Microsoft are currently feeling uncertain. Warren states, “Microsoft is laying off more than 300 employees. A month after Microsoft laid off more than 6,000 people, it’s doing another fresh round of cuts in Redmond, Washington. This time more than 300 have been affected, and I’ve heard some of those are in Microsoft’s legal teams.”

He also adds that spreading out the layoffs instead of doing them all at once has had a negative impact on employee morale, as workers are left unsure about when or where more layoffs will happen.

“I’ve spoken to nearly a dozen current employees and every single one of them is concerned about the ongoing layoffs. The random nature of these cuts and the fact Microsoft isn’t doing them all in one go has really hit morale inside the company. I don’t think the layoffs are over, either. I keep hearing that there will be Xbox-related layoffs soon, potentially by the end of the month.”

While these are just rumors, Warren is considered a reliable source when it comes to Microsoft and Xbox news.
