Eterna Animation, the original anime branch of Toei Animation, announced its first title today, called Foxing: Kitsune-tsuki.
Foxing: Kitsune-tsuki is described as follows:
The story explores universal themes such as isolation, fantasy, and the confrontation of the self in contemporary society. It poetically and visually depicts the protagonist’s emotional transformation as she journeys toward personal liberation.
While a specific release date has not been announced, the short film will be released at some point in 2026. It will be presented at the MIFA Talent Panel during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival later this month.
Eterna Animation was unveiled by Toei Animation as part of the company’s 70th anniversary celebration. Toei Animation will turn 70 in 2026. A statement from Toei Animation was given about Eterna:
