Store Receipts Stapled Into Nintendo Switch 2 Boxes Cause Screen Punctures on Launch Day

The unboxing experience for some buyers of the new Nintendo Switch 2 console is turning into a nightmare. According to multiple reports online, some store owners accidentally damaged the screen of the Switch 2 by using a staple to attach the receipt.

Several buyers have shared their stories on social media (thanks IGN), explaining that they received defective consoles with holes in the screen caused by the staples from the price tags used by certain stores. This issue has been reported in places like GameStop and other video game and electronics stores.

The main cause of this problem seems to be the lack of protection between the external packaging and the screen of the new Nintendo console. The few millimeters of space between the front of the package and the Switch 2’s screen are not enough to safely use staple guns.

As a result, the staples end up partially piercing the console’s screen, causing the damage seen in photos posted by frustrated users who experienced the issue.
