How to Get All Weapon Skins in DOOM: The Dark Ages

Cosmetic items have become a must-have in modern video games, as almost all fans want their skins to shine and look different from the base equipment.

The recently released DOOM: The Dark Ages also features 11 weapon skins, and once players understand how to unlock them, the process is pretty simple and straightforward.

While some skins may require a bit of effort, most are easy to unlock. Today, in this guide, we will walk you through the best and simplest ways to get all the weapon skins in DOOM: The Dark Ages.

Nightmare Skins (Collectibles)

Nightmare skins are hidden throughout the campaign and are marked by a brush icon on the map. They require exploration and sometimes puzzle-solving to obtain.

  • Combat Shotgun – Village of Khalim

  • Shredder – Hebeth

  • Accelerator – Sentinel Barracks

  • Pulverizer – The Holy City of Aratum

  • Impaler – Siege – Part 1 (requires Purple Key)

  • Super Shotgun – Ancestral Forge

  • Cycler – The Forsaken Plains

  • Chainshot – Sentinel Command Station

  • Grenade Launcher – Spire of Nerathul

  • Rocket Launcher – Temple of Lomarith

  • Ravager – Chapter 20: Resurrection (underground)

Reverent Skins (Mission Challenges)

Reverent skins are unlocked by completing specific mission challenges:

  • Combat Shotgun: Destroy four artillery cannons in Siege – Part 1 (Chapter 6).

  • Super Shotgun: Damage 25 enemies with the Dreadmace in City of Ry’uul (Chapter 15).

  • Shredder: Kill three or more fodder demons with a single shield throw five times in Siege – Part 2 (Chapter 7).

  • Impaler: Destroy two Hell Fighter ships in From Beyond (Chapter 13).

  • Accelerator: Discover seven secret areas in Ancestral Forge (Chapter 9).

  • Cycler: Destroy all five wolf statues in The Kar’Thul Marshes (Chapter 16).

  • Pulverizer: Destroy two Gore Nests in The Forsaken Plains (Chapter 10).

  • Ravager: Kill two Cosmic Barons within five seconds of each other in Reckoning (Chapter 22).

  • Chainshot: Find three underwater secrets in Temple of Lomarith (Chapter 17).

  • Grenade Launcher: Parry Cosmic Barons ten times in Belly of the Beast (Chapter 18).

  • Rocket Launcher: Kill all cultist circles in Resurrection (Chapter 20).

Conqueror Skins (Weapon Mastery)

Conqueror skins are earned by completing each weapon’s mastery challenge, which becomes available after purchasing all upgrades for that weapon:

  • Combat Shotgun: Hit demons with every pellet from Combat Shotgun shots 150 times.

  • Super Shotgun: Hit demons with every pellet from Super Shotgun shots 150 times.

  • Shredder: Kill 100 enemies using the Shredder’s shield throw.

  • Impaler: Impale 75 enemies with the Impaler’s primary attack.

  • Accelerator: Kill 200 enemies using the Accelerator’s beam.

  • Cycler: Kill 150 enemies using the Cycler’s alternate fire mode.

  • Pulverizer: Kill 100 enemies using the Pulverizer’s slam attack.

  • Ravager: Kill 50 enemies using the Ravager’s charged shot.

  • Chainshot: Kill 100 enemies using the Chainshot’s rapid-fire mode.

  • Grenade Launcher: Kill 75 enemies using the Grenade Launcher’s sticky grenades.

  • Rocket Launcher: Kill 100 enemies using the Rocket Launcher’s lock-on feature.

The above-mentioned steps are the simplest ways to unlock all the weapon skins in DOOM: The Dark Ages. It should also be noted that all the guns offer three customization slots. The first is the base skin, which is the simpler design of the weapon.

Next is the color variant, which provides alternative color choices for players to select based on personal preferences. Finally, there’s the wear level, where players can adjust the weapon’s appearance from pristine to battle-worn.

If you’re wondering how to select skins in the game, all you need to do is pause the game, go to the ‘extra’ tab, and select ‘weapon skins.’ Pick your favorite skins and start enjoying your journey.

As for whether DOOM: The Dark Ages is worth buying, our review gave it a score of 4.5 out of 5, stating, “This game is the perfect lazy weekend escape—fast, furious, and so engaging, you’ll ignore your family to play.
