PlayStation Announces June 2025 State Of Play – What Will We See?

By Jordan AndowJune 3, 2025
PlayStation State of Play June 2025

It’s been a while since we’ve heard anything from PlayStation, but that silence is about to break. Earlier today, PlayStation announced via its social media accounts that a new State Of Play is incoming… tomorrow!

State of Play returns tomorrow, June 4!

This announcement has left me thinking about what we might see at this latest State Of Play. So, here’s a list of a few things I think could show up.

1. Ghost Of Yōtei

This one may be the obvious pick but I’d be shocked if we didn’t see something from Sucker Punch Studios upcoming Ghost Of Yōtei. Considering we are only a few months away from the game’s release and still haven’t seen gameplay, what better time to show off this highly anticipated sequel?

Of course, PlayStation might choose to dedicate an entire State of Play to Ghost of Yōtei later, but I would expect to at least see a gameplay trailer here.

2. Resident Evil 9

We don’t know too much about Resident Evil 9 at the moment, other than it exists, but whispers have suggested a reveal is coming soon. Given the franchise’s history on PlayStation, I wouldn’t be shocked one bit if we get our first look at Capcom’s next survival horror game during tomorrow’s State of Play.

I just hope the rumours of the game being an open-world prove to be true, as that could be a breath of fresh air for this great series of games.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater Could Face Delay to 2025

3. Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater

Sticking with series that have a long history with the PlayStation platform. I suspect that we will see Konami’s remake of Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Not only is the release of this highly requested remake edging ever closer, but it would be a great time to remind people of a game made by the legendary Hideo Kojima. Players have him on the mind right now, after all, and any connection you can make to him is a clever marketing beat.

I personally can’t wait to play Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, it’s a remake of my favourite game in the series and a game I consider to be one of the best ever made. Can Metal Gear Solid Delta recapture that greatness for a new audience? Time will tell!

4. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

Speaking of Hideo Kojima, there is a good chance we could see Death Stranding 2: On The Beach show up since it releases in only a few weeks. There is every chance it shows up at Summer Games Fest instead since Geoff Keighley loves a Kojima reveal, but I think it would be silly for PlayStation not to have something from it in their own show as well.

Previews for this one were largely glowing, and I can’t wait to get my hands on it to find out for myself. Death Stranding was one of the most unique gaming experiences I’ve ever had. Here’s hoping that Death Stranding 2: On The Beach can capture that same magic.

Insomniac Games Wolverine reveal

5. Marvel’s Wolverine

Ok, this one is more of a long shot, but it feels like time. Insomniac first announced Marvel’s Wolverine back in 2021, and we haven’t heard a peep from it since. (despite some very unfortunate early leaks) The timing just feels right for Insomniac Games to give us our first official look at what Marvel’s Wolverine is, although it’s more likely to make an appearance sometime in 2026. What better way for PlayStation to make a statement and get an easy win than showing Wolverine?

This is my get hype moment prediction, more in hope than expectation, but at least I don’t have long before I’ll find out if it comes true.

You can watch PlayStation’s State of Play on June 4th, 2025, at 2 pm PT. Here’s the official YouTube link

Jordan has been playing games since the age of six. This ignited a passion which initially led him towards game development before trying his hand in the realm of games media, starting in 2022. It turns out he's quite good at it, even if he doesn't always believe in himself.
