Tokyo Broadcasting System Established New Animation Studio

By Josh PiedraMay 19, 2025

Tokyo Broadcasting System Holding announced that they have created a brand-new company that will focus on creating animation. Temporarily named CIP, TBS is investing around ¥30 billion (~$207 million) to establish the company with the goal to accelerate global expansion through collaborations with Mainichi Broadcasting System.

MBS’s role will be to help with production, distribution, and anime IP development. MBS will also be responsible for recruiting for CIP including animation, merchandising, and technology.

CIP will also link with various businesses that are also operated by TBS Holdings. For example, U-NEXT will stream anime IPs created by CIP, while Akasaka Sacas, and Akasaka Entertainment City will hold events using CIP IPs.
