Monolith Soft Provides Insight Into Kyoto Studio Role

Plus, They're Hiring!
By Todd BlackMay 15, 2025
Monolith Soft, Nintendo

Without a doubt, Monolith Soft has become one of the most important teams under the Nintendo banner. The first reason for that statement is simple: they’ve made a series of great games on Nintendo Switch and are known for pushing the hardware to the limit to get the best quality. You can see that in full in Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition (read my review!) However, the other reason is what brings us here today. You see, the crew doesn’t just make their own games, they help Nintendo with their other 1st party titles quite often.

The team that does that for Monolith Soft is the Kyoto Studio crew. In a special post by the team, they broke down the studio and how it’s been helping Nintendo since the Wii days!

Monolith Soft gave an overview of what the Kyoto Studio does. It's sole purpose is making Nintendo games better. They should seriously be working with Game Freak for Pokemon Gen 10.

So this crew is all about building up new tools and resources while assisting Nintendo whenever they ask. No wonder they’re so valued by The Big N! Oh, and as that post noted, they’ll be hiring for some new positions, and we got some more details on that, too:

Monolith Soft announced they are holding a recruitment session on 6/21 and 6/25. The Kyoto Studio is looking for 2D & 3D Designers. This is the studio that helps with Nintendo's other 1st Party Games. career.famitsu.com/lp/6596#job-…

All of this just makes us wonder what they’re working on right now and when we might see more from them.
