Confirmed: No Voice Chat in Elden Ring Nightreign and I’m Fine With That

With Elden Ring Nightreign less than two weeks away from release, there’s been a flurry of questions from longtime fans and curious newcomers alike. While the lack of crossplay remains a hot topic (which I previously addressed), another common question is whether Elden Ring Nightreign will support voice chat or not. Thanks to the event held during PAX East 2025, we now have an answer.

According to Oroboro, a popular Soulslike content creator who participated in the PAX East 2025 demo, Elden Ring Nightreign will not include voice chat.

This is mentioned at the 51:04 mark in the video below.

Unlike the earlier network test many of us played, Oroboro had access to a final version of the game. This lines up with what I suspected all along, and honestly, I think the absence of voice chat is for the best.

The game does support a ping system, which is more than enough. If you want to coordinate with others, there’s always party chat on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. On PC, there’s Discord and a variety of other options.

Personally, I don’t need a random player yelling or cursing at me during gameplay, and that’s putting it nicely. FromSoftware excels at many things, but building a solid online system isn’t one of them. I’d much rather go without voice chat than deal with someone screaming in my ear with no way to mute them short of shutting down the game. Nah, I’m good with this decision.

Elden Ring Nightreign launches May 30, 2025, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).

Are you looking forward to the game? Let us know in the comments below.
