A-list singer-actor IU has opened her first-ever global fan community since her debut, marking a new phase in strengthening connections with her global fandom, UAENA.
Kakao Entertainment announced that IU launched her fan community on its global K-culture fan platform, Berriz, May 13. IU – who elevated her music career with a large-scale world tour in 2024 and solidified her acting presence in the Netflix series, “When Life Gives You Tangerines” earlier this year – plans to boost fan interaction through Berriz. Data from her official fan café “From. IU” will gradually be transferred to Berriz to preserve cherished memories, as IU continues to engage with her fans and embarks on a new chapter with them.
Notably, Berriz will feature a special zone for newly joined UAENA members. Upon verification, they will receive digital membership cards and gain access to a variety of exclusive videos and images in the “UAENA ZONE.”
With the official launch of her fan community, IU will take closer steps toward her fans by holding diverse birthday events. Previously, IU held the “IU’s 5.16MHz with UAENA” live stream on her birthday – May 16 – every year, sharing her latest updates and chatting live with followers. This year, she is set to host a “voice live” session on Berriz at 10:30 p.m., May 14 (KST) to create another set of precious memories with her fans.
IU has prepared a special in-person event as well. From May 15-18, she will run the one-day café “IU HBD CAFÉ” in three regions of Seoul – Seongsu, Yeonnam and Yongsan Districts – providing drinks and special goods to the official fan club members. Known for her deep affection toward her fans, IU will give them unforgettable gifts through the event.
“IU, thriving globally as a singer and actress, will be able to shorten the distance with her fans and build stronger rapport via Berriz,” Kakao Entertainment said. “We will continue to explore new ways for IU and other artists/content IPs to engage and have fun with their global fans on Berriz.”
Berriz is a global K-culture fan platform designed to bring together fans who love any type of K-culture IP including artists and creators, as well as content IPs such as dramas, films, webtoons and musicals. Its goal is to set up an optimized community environment for these fans, serving as a playground where they can communicate and discover joy together across genres and scopes. Berriz is also a fan-friendly modular platform where IP holders and fandoms can choose designs and services based on their specific needs and preferences. It is currently available on the web and mobile (Android, iOS), offering services in 18 languages including English and Korean.
