Roguelite Dragon is Dead Leaves Early Access in June 2025

Dragon is Dead, the blood-soaked, combo-crunching action roguelite where pixel art meets pure punishment, is slicing its way out of Early Access and into full release this June 6, 2025, on PC (Steam), one year after the game first headed to Early Access.

If Dead Cells had a violent fling with Diablo II, this would be their hellspawn. We’re talking razor-sharp 2D combat, deep loot-driven buildcrafting, and more brutal boss fights than you can swing a cursed axe at. And I’d know, after getting some hands-on during PAX East 2024, and again shortly afterwards. I’ve been waiting for this game to exit early access, and that’s happening very soon.

After a year of community-driven updates and relentless tweaking, the 1.0 version is packing serious heat: a savage new heroine, a final chapter in the Dragon Slayer’s saga, and a mountain of mythic-grade gear to obsess over.

Here’s what’s new in version 1.0:

  • Final Region & Boss Fight – The story hits its blood-soaked climax as you face off against the Circle of the Dawn and uncover the real truth behind the dragon’s fall.
  • Hunter of the Beast – A brand-new feral heroine enters the fray, claws out, and combat-ready.
  • Mythic Loot Tier – Because Legendary just wasn’t enough. Get ready to build your dream loadout with ridiculous effects and stat boosts.
  • Item Quenching – Upgrade your gear even further with a new system that lets you add and tweak options like a mad blacksmith.
  • Nightmare Mode x16 – Sixteen levels of pure torment. Not just stronger enemies—new patterns, fresh mechanics, full-on chaos for the masochists out there.

If you haven’t jumped in yet, now’s the time to sharpen your blades and dive into the madness. Dragon is Dead is fast, stylish, unapologetically hard, and 100% worth dying in, over and over again.

Wishlist it now on Steam and prepare to lose sleep, among other things, on June 6th, 2025.
