Kakao Entertainment, the parent company of webtoon and web novel company Tapas, has announced that it has established a new subsidiary here in the United States. The new company will be called Kakao Entertainment Global (KEG) and will be based in Los Angeles, California.
This new U.S. branch is their latest move to strengthen their global presence and explore new business opportunities. Previously, they had entered into a joint collaboration with SM Entertainment, which focused on music events and artist development.
Both the new company and their partnership will continue; however, their focus will be split. KEG will handle global initiatives in music, media, and content, while SM Entertainment will continue to handle music-related activities such as world tours and concerts, along with broadcast appearances.
For now, nothing has been said about Tapas, specifically.
