Are People Getting The Nintendo Switch 2 To Feel Happy About Life In General?

It's not as crazy a question as you might think.

Why do people do what they do? It’s a question that has plagued many a mind over the years, and that includes in the gaming space. In the last couple of years, we’ve seen MANY things happen that make us question the minds of fans, developers, and even publishers. However, when it comes to the Nintendo Switch 2, one analyst is looking at things from a truly existential view. That person is Mat Piscatella, Executive Director & Video Game Industry Analyst at Circana. He did a chat with GamesRadar, and he wondered if the hype for the new console was honestly rooted in life not exactly being the best right now, and needing something to look forward to:

“It’s been so long since we’ve had a new console hardware platform. It’s been years. It’s been a long time, and people are looking for things to kind of get their mind off of what’s going on elsewhere. You can even see it online, just the desire people have to have something to be excited about. I don’t know, maybe it’s just my own perspective, but I just see this palpable desperation, in a sense, of wanting to find something to bring joy. And a lot of people are locking on to this, which, good for them.”

Again, at first, it sounds “weird,” but gaming as a whole has been a lifeline for many people, regardless of whether you play on consoles, PCs, or something in between, like mobile devices. I, personally, do think the Nintendo Switch will be an uplifting thing because I know that lots of good games are coming out for it both this year and next.

There’s nothing wrong with looking for “little things” to help you get through the days, especially when recent days have been dark.
