The specs of the Nintendo Switch 2 are still being broken down in various ways as we get ever closer to the console’s release on June 5th. One of the big things that many are banking on is that pretty much all of the OG Switch titles will be easily playable on the Switch 2. That’s good because it means that if players want to “dive back into a game they love” they don’t have to charge both the Switch and Switch 2 simultaneously. However, some people have wondered just how many games are truly “backward compatible.”
To answer that, Nintendo put out a special page on its website about the backward compatibility status of both its 1st party titles and the numerous 3rd party games on the original Switch. As you can see, all 122 1st party titles are raring to go, and for third-party titles, a vast majority of them will work, with some getting tested to ensure they function properly. You can check out the chart below:

All this is to say that the Nintendo Switch 2 will play pretty much anything from the OG Switch so you won’t have to play “hot potato” with the consoles to enjoy your gaming library.
