The June showcase season is beginning to take shape with Summer Game Fest already set for June 6. Nintendo releases the Switch 2 a day before on June 5, which most likely means a Summer Nintendo Direct is in the cards, and now Microsoft has joined the fray with the Xbox Games Showcase set for June 8. Followed by a special direct focused on The Outerworlds 2.
Microsoft’s annual event promises looks at upcoming first-party titles along with third-party games. Will the recently delayed reboot of Fable see a major presence? Is it time for the story of Marcus and Dom in Gears E-Day to get a release date?
There’s also the possibility of more information on the reboot of Perfect Dark, State of Decay 3, Clockwork Revolution. Perhaps even the surprise of Marvel’s Blade or even Everwild.
Following similar lines of the Starfield and Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 directs from 2023 and 2024 respectively, The Outerworlds 2 takes that spot this year with its own direct. Where more gameplay elements, environments, and you’d have to imagine a release date would be revealed for the game as well.
Microsoft always offers at least a few surprises for these showcases and perhaps the rumored OEM Xbox Handheld takes center stage as well. Obviously we have to wait for the day of the event to find out. You can watch the event on the Xbox Youtube or Twich channel and even Facebook. The showcase airs June 8 at 10am PT/1pm ET/6pm GMT.
According to the Xbox Wire post, there will also be Xbox Official Podcast and Youtube channel videos giving deep dives into the games featured at the Xbox Games Showcase. So it will prove to be a week long event for gamers to get more information on those games.
