Dragon Quest I + II HD-2D Remake Debuts Gameplay Trailer

By Scott AdamsMarch 27, 2025
Descendants of Erdrick that are featured in Dragon Quest I + II HD-2D Remakes

We have known that the Dragon Quest I + II HD-2D Remake has been coming since last year, so I am happy that at the Nintendo Direct this morning, Square Enix gave us an actual gameplay trailer for the game. The game chronologically takes place after Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.

Dragon Quest I has you use one character that is a descendant of Erdrick from Dragon Quest III. They need to save the world from certain doom and it started turn based combat video games. Every turn based game has taken inspiration from one form or another from this very first title so it is awesome to see it making a come back as big as this! Dragon Quest II has party of four that are descendants of the character in Dragon Quest II to once again save the world! Dragon Quest I, II, and III make up what is known as the Erdrick trilogy. With the end in sight, I hope we continue to get more Dragon Quest HD-2D remakes especially since my favorite title in the series is V.

For anyone that wants to play the first chronological game in the Erdrick trilogy to prepare for DRAGON QUEST I & II HD-2D Remake, DRAGON QUEST III HD-2D Remake is now available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC via Steam and Microsoft Store on Windows.
