The King of Fighters XIII Global Match Finally Released on Steam – With Rollback Netcode

By Keith MitchellFebruary 20, 2025
THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIII GLOBAL MATCH Steam

Fighting game fans, it’s time to throw down! The King of Fighters XIII Global Match (KOF XIII GM) has officially been released on Steam, priced at $19.99, bringing one of the most beloved entries in the series to a whole new level. If you’ve been craving smooth, fast-paced matches, you’re in for a treat—this version comes packed with rollback netcode, expanded online features, and the complete roster of 36 fighters, including former DLC characters.

You might be scratching your head wondering why a title that was released for the PS4 and Nintendo Switch, is only finally being released for the PC. And well, you’re not alone.

This isn’t just a simple re-release—SNK has upgraded the experience with several enhancements.

  • Rollback netcode ensures smooth online play, whether you’re battling friends or taking on the world. No more frustrating lag ruining your combos.
  • Online lobbies now support up to nine players, allowing you to fight, spectate, and strategize with players across the globe.
  • All 36 characters are unlocked right from the start, including fan-favorites like NESTS Style Kyo, Classic Iori, and Mr. Karate.
  • The final chapter of the Ash Saga returns in story mode, presented in a dynamic visual novel format with multiple character perspectives.
  • Fast, technical combat makes KOF XIII stand out, with mechanics like the Hyper Drive Gauge, EX Special Moves, and NEO MAX Super Special Moves adding layers of strategy and excitement.
  • New digital soundtracks are now available, including KOF XIII GM and KOF XIV. To celebrate, SNK is offering discounts on all KOF digital soundtracks until April 21, 2025.

But what if you already own the original KOF XIII on Steam? Not to worry as SNK has you covered—you can upgrade to KOF XIII GM for just $6.99. And don’t worry, the original version will remain playable for existing owners.

That said, there does seem to be some issues with the game, as the game already has an overall negative review score on Steam. Maybe sit back until the issues are addressed.
