New Atomfall Trailer Shows Off the Features of the Lake District

By Andrew AgressFebruary 12, 2025
Atomfall trailer features

Hot on the heels of the last trailer, Atomfall has a new one to show off. The latest trailer of the post-apocalyptic game set in Northern England is a bit shorter. But it quickly showcases many of the features of the upcoming title. Players can get a sneak peak at scavenging for supplies, surviving environmental hazards, and fighting enemies—human or otherwise. The trailer also gives a look at exploring the Lake District and uncovering secrets from the many characters and locales. Check it out below:

Developed by Rebellion, creators of the Sniper Elite series, Atomfall is set during an alternate-history version of the 1960s. In fact, the game takes place five years after an actual nuclear disaster that occurred in Northern England’s Lake District. From here the game diverges, imagining a quarantine zone that cropped up in the area and its isolated inhabitants.

The scene in the trailer of a worker in a hazmat suit stumbling upon the player character will serve as an introduction. Rebellion shared via press release that this scene “shows how players enter the world of Atomfall.” From there, players can investigate what went wrong at the Windscale atom plant. By the looks of things, the disaster was much, much worse than the real-life one.

Rebellion confirms this as well, sharing what players can expect to encounter in this version of the Lake District:

This is a dangerous and hostile landscape filled with gangs of outlaws, crazed cultists and unexplained horrors. Even the local wildlife poses an immense threat to your life. If you are to navigate this land and survive, you will need to fight for your life and scavenge resources.

Atomfall is packed with a cast of quirky and eccentric characters that you will meet on your journey. These people have been isolated from the world for some time and while many have adopted a “keep calm and carry on” mentality, some have sought to seize power and twisted events for their own gain. Others have even slipped into more nefarious ways…

Though I’ve yet to visit England’s Lake District myself, I’ve heard that it’s a beautiful area and not “a dangerous and hostile landscape” unless one goes hiking unprepared. But it seems that you’ll need more than a good pair of boots (or wellies) to withstand the perils of Atomfall‘s take on the place.

And Atomfall pre-orders, open here, do in fact include extra supplies. Players who pre-order the standard edition of Atomfall will receive the Basic Supply Bundle DLC. This offers additional items and supplies to aid exploration.

Players who pre-order the Deluxe Edition will receive the Enhanced Supply Bundle featuring the standard version’s additional items as well as an exclusive pistol variant, metal detector skin, and character upgrades. On top of this, they’ll also have access to Atomfall three days early and Story Expansion DLC at a later date.

Atomfall will arrive on day one on Game Pass. It will also be available on March 27th, 2025 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
