Retro Shooter Neon Inferno Blends Contra and Wild Guns Action

If games like Contra, Blazing Chrome, and Wild Guns excite you, then you’re in luck as Retroware and Zenovia Interactive (creators of Steel Assault) have announced the upcoming 2D side-scrolling title, Neon Inferno.

Neon Inferno throws players into a war-torn metropolis where crime families battle for dominance, and a corrupt NYPD threatens to crush anyone who opposes them. Amid this chaos, players take on the roles of either Angelo or Mariana, two enforcers fighting for their crime syndicate’s survival in a 2D side-scrolling shooter with a twist—combat unfolds in both the foreground and background, demanding players to stay on their toes.

Check out the announcement trailer below.

Whether dodging enemy fire up close or sniping foes in the distance, Neon Inferno ensures a fast-paced and dynamic experience. Adding to the intensity is the game’s Bullet Time mechanic, allowing players to deflect certain projectiles back at enemies, whether they’re right in front of them or lurking in the background.

If you’re a fan of old-school shooters but appreciate modern refinements, Neon Inferno looks to be a title to keep your eyes on. With its mix of classic gameplay elements and fresh mechanics, Neon Inferno is shaping up to be a must-play for fans of action-packed side-scrollers. Keep an eye out for this one—it’s going to be a wild ride through a crime-ridden future!

Lastly, why it wasn’t mentioned if the game does have online co-op, the game will be debuted during Steam’s Cough Co-Op Fest which takes place from February 10-17, 205, it’s safe to assume the game will also feature co-op

I dunno about you but I love games like this and I can’t wait to get my hands on the game. Zenovia Interactive did a great job with Steel Assualt and that was its first game. With this being its second game, I’m looking forward to seeing what it has learned since then.
