On February 4th, 2025, Capcom hosted its Capcom Spotlight and Monster Hunter Spotlight livestream, delivering exciting updates for Monster Hunter Wilds fans worldwide. Let’s break down the key announcements.

Monster Hunter Wilds Closed Beta Test Details

Capcom provided fresh details on the upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds Closed Beta Test (CBT), confirming that players will be able to challenge the game’s flagship monster, Arkveld. This formidable beast is sure to test both newcomers and veteran hunters alike.

The second beta will introduce character creation with transferable data from the first beta to the full game, a story mission, and free-roaming hunts with cross-platform multiplayer support. However, Capcom clarified that the CBT will not include any of the planned performance and balance adjustments, as these will be reserved for the final release.

Closed Beta Test Schedule

The Monster Hunter Wilds CBT will be available during the following periods:

  • February 6-9 – 7:00 PM to 6:59 AM PT (10:00 PM to 9:59 AM ET)
  • February 13-16 – 7:00 PM to 6:59 AM PT (10:00 PM to 9:59 AM ET)

New Trailer & Iceshard Cliffs Reveal

A new trailer showcased a breathtaking new region—Iceshard Cliffs—a snowcapped and rocky landscape reminiscent of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. This icy environment is home to a newly introduced monster, Hirabami.

Returning Monsters: Nerscylla & Gore Magala

Fan-favorite monsters Nerscylla and Gore Magala will be making a return, ready to stalk unsuspecting hunters. Gore Magala, first introduced in Monster Hunter 4, remains one of the franchise’s most formidable foes. And let me tell you—this beast is an absolute pain to deal with. I can’t wait to fight it all over again.

Oh, and don’t forget to stock up on Hot Drinks—you’re going to need them!

PS5 Pro Enhancements Confirmed

For PlayStation 5 Pro owners, Monster Hunter Wilds will launch with exclusive enhancements tailored for the upgraded console.

Monster Hunter Wilds Benchmark on Steam

While it wasn’t announced during the spotlight, Capcom has released a Monster Hunter Wilds Benchmark that’s currently available on Steam. However, keep in mind that this benchmark does not have any of the optimization or enhancements that will be put into the full version of the game. But it doesn’t hurt to give it a try.

Monster Hunter Wilds launches on February 28, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
