Marvel’s The Fantastic Four: The First Steps Teaser Drops—And It Looks Amazing

By Keith MitchellFebruary 4, 2025
Marvels First Super Hero Family Fantastic Four Teaser

Ever since being announced during the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con International event, Marvel has been working on and teasing the release of its re-re-rebooted Fantastic Four movie. Yesterday, it was revealed that we’d be getting a first look at Marvel’s First Family making their MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) debut with The Fantastic Four: The First Steps, which was announced to be released on February 4, 2025—which happens to be today.

So, what did we get? Plenty, especially if you’re a fan of The Fantastic Four or old enough to remember reading the original comics. I won’t dive into all the details of the teaser, because I want you to watch the teaser for yourself, but I can say that after being disappointed by the previous Fantastic Four movies, this one has the potential to not only satisfy longtime fans but finally deliver the faithful adaptation we’ve been waiting for.

That said, the teaser doesn’t reveal too much beyond introducing the core team: Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Richards (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Joseph Quinn), and Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) — who looks amazing in this, and not like crap from the other two films. Even, the helpful robot created by Reed, H.E.R.B.I.E. will be involved. Watch him end up being part of some plot-winning situation.

The setting is also true to the source material, taking the Fantastic Four back to the 1960s. With that comes a distinct visual style, from the cars to the buildings, capturing the era’s aesthetic. Damn, I’m loving that retro 60s look.

Oh, and Galactus. We get a glimpse of him at the end of the trailer, towering over the Statue of Liberty (which stands 305 feet tall) and casting a massive shadow over New York City. It was an incredible sight. The only downside? There’s no sign of Doctor Doom—he won’t be the villain in this movie, as he’s being reserved for something else. However, there’s word that Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr, will make an appearance since he does tie into the movie.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is directed by Matt Shakman, produced by Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Louis D’Esposito, Grant Curtis, and Tim Lewis.

The Fantastic Four: The First Steps will hit theaters on July 25, 2025.
