Sonic The Hedgehog Writers Confirmed That Rouge and Big The Cat Were Almost Worked Into The Films

Some cameos just aren't worth it...
By Todd BlackDecember 24, 2024
Sonic The Hedgehog, Rouge

With Sonic The Hedgehog once again tearing up the box office, it’s easy to wonder what will happen next. A fourth film has  already been confirmed, and many are hoping that a spinoff will occur with a certain “Ultimate Lifeform.” The question is, how many of the other Sonic characters could appear in future films or spinoffs? We know of two (that we’ll only spoil through this article) that will appear in Sonic 4, but we could still get more down the line, such as Rouge the Bat, Big the Cat, and more. Ironically, the movie’s writers have actually tried to work the two in!

This comes from IGN on Threads, where they noted how writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller have honestly been attempting to put at least cameos of the two characters in the movie. They were going to do a “skeletal cameo” for Big The Cat in the second film but pulled it out for obvious reasons. As for Rouge, they just haven’t figured out the best way to bring her in.

However, with the ending of the third film, we could see her team up with a certain “reluctant ally” in a spinoff that continues a certain “shadowy story.” As for Big The Cat…we’re fine with him not showing up.
