Spider-Man Beyond The Spider-Verse Won’t Release In 2025

If it allows the animators time to do their jobs without being overworked? Good!

When is Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse come to Blu-ray and Streaming, Spider-Man Beyond The Spider-Verse

Sony has been dropping plenty of bombshells (and just plain bombs) when it comes to its spinoff Spider-verse films. You may recall that we noted how Kraven The Hunter will be the last spinoff movie in Sony’s current line. That’s good for various reasons, including how it’s bombing at the box office right now. One small piece of good news that came out of it, though, was confirmation that Sony was focusing on projects that fans actually want, including Spider-Man Beyond The Spider-Verse. However, when it came to that anticipated film’s release date…it’s not exactly definitive…

By that, we mean how Deadline revealed that the film won’t be released in 2025.

At first, that sounds really bad and shocking. However, despite the incredible success of the first two animated films starring Miles Morales, it came at a cost. That cost was the animators who worked on the films. In a report by Vulture at the time, multiple animators revealed that producer Phil Lord continually changed things within the script and beyond that forced the animators to fix things on the fly, resulting in 7-day work weeks, many times going over 11 hours a day. Apparently, over 100 animators on the film left because they couldn’t take the stress and pressure anymore.

Since then, any news on Spider-Man Beyond The Spider-Verse has been incredibly light or vague, and this only adds to it. Yet, if Sony can avoid another scandal like this, and the animators aren’t worked to death as they make another hopefully great film, it’ll be worth it in the end.
