Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio Revealed to be Working on the New Virtua Fighter Title

While we knew that SEGA had announced and was actively working on a new Virtua Fighter title or Virtua Fighter 6 as I’ve been calling it, even though that’s not the official name, we hadn’t seen anything of it. That is until the Game Awards show, where we found out that Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio will be handling the development duties.

It’s not like Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio is new to the Virtua Fighter scene, as it not only helped AM2 work on Virtual Fighter 5, and is also working on Virtua Fighter 5 R.E.V.O., a new port of Virtual Fighter 5, for the PC (Steam).

At first, when I saw the reveal and show Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio logo at the start, I was sure it was some sort of new Yazuka / Like a Dragon game. but no, when I saw this unknown character, who appears to be Akira, based on the moveset the character was using, fighting against a favorite VF character of mine, Sarah Bryant.

Let’s go!

While we don’t know much about the game, there’s going to change as of tomorrow, December 13, 2024, at 9 PM PT / 12 AM ET / 2 PM JST, a Virtua Fighter Direct will be taking place which will provide lots of new information and celebrating the 30th anniversary of Virtua Fighter.
