Rockman X DiVE to Be Renamed as Rockman: Time Rift in China

By Josh PiedraNovember 20, 2024
Mega Man X DiVE

Previously, there was leaked information about a brand-new Mega Man game known as Rockman: Time Rift. Then, the unfortunate news came that the game was canceled.

However, while the game itself was canceled, the name was retained and is now being repurposed for something else. Rockman X DiVE is taking that name for itself and using it to rebrand itself in China. If you’re wondering if this is the same game that Capcom ended the service of and turned it into Mega Man X DiVE Offline, then you would be correct; however, this is not Capcom’s doing but instead, it is the work of NebulaJoy.

NebulaJoy was granted the rights to bring Mega Man X DiVE to a global platform back when Capcom decided to keep the original Mega Man X DiVE strictly to Taiwan. This caused two versions of the game to run parallel to each other with NebulaJoy putting out an expedited version of the game until it caught up to the Taiwanese version.

Capcom pulled the plug on the Taiwan version, converted it into an Offline game, and placed it on Steam globally. NebulaJoy announced that it had no intention of ending the Global version of the game that they had been maintaining; however, months later, they, too, ended the live service of the Global version.

It seems as if NebulaJoy still intends to carry on its own version of the game as they are bringing it to Mainland China. They launched an official version for the Chinese version here: https://lkr.nebulajoy.com/#/reg

The reason for the name change to Rockman: Time Rift is supposedly due to China’s localization requirements.

No details are known at this time if this version will be expedited like the Global version was or if they will go through the original pacing of the Taiwan version.
