Manta’s UNDER THE OAK TREE Novel is a New York Times Bestseller

By Josh PiedraNovember 14, 2024

Manta Comics has announced that their Under the Oak Tree novel has made the New York Times Best Seller’s list!

UNDER THE OAK TREE

Fans of Manta’s bestselling romantasy (romance fantasy) Under the Oak Tree can soon experience the beloved story’s journey from digital to print. In partnership with Inklore, an imprint of Penguin Random House, Under the Oak Tree: Vol 1 (The Novel), featuring chapters 1 to 76 of the original novel, will be available online and in bookstores nationwide starting November 5, 2024.

Under the Oak Tree—originally a novel by Suji Kim and later adapted into a webcomic illustrated by artist P—has captivated millions with its tale of love, resilience, and self-discovery. Now in English-language print for the first time, this edition of the bestselling novel on Manta features designed sprayed edges, full-color patterned endpapers, silver foil stamping on the cover, and a ribbon bookmark.

The story follows Lady Maximilian, a timid noblewoman with a painful past who is married off to Sir Riftan, a knight of modest rank. But on the night of their wedding, Riftan is suddenly called away to war, leaving Maxi to navigate life alone. Three years later, Riftan returns as a celebrated hero, ready to rekindle their marriage, yet, they remain virtual strangers. Through trials and misunderstandings, Maxi gradually finds courage, trust, and love, and a compelling story of transformation unfolds.

This release is part of a growing Under the Oak Tree phenomenon that has steadily expanded, captivating romantasy fans worldwide. The novel wrapped up in April 2024 but the webcomic version is ongoing and currently in its third season. The story also continues with Under the Oak Tree – The White Dragon, a recently released side story that lets readers delve further into Maxi and Riftan’s world. Suji Kim, acclaimed for her character-driven storytelling, is also the original creator of Manta’s latest hit romance webcomic, There’s a Mouse in My House.

Earlier this year, Inklore published the comic version of Under the Oak Tree, which quickly became a national bestseller. The upcoming novel release on November 5 promises to be a must-read addition for dedicated fans and new readers alike, offering deeper narrative insight into Maxi and Riftan’s journey.
