If you watched the first two Sonic live-action films, you know that both movies teased what would be happening in the next entry. The first movie showed Tails appearing, with his game-accurate voice actor. Then, after introducing Tails and Knuckles, the second film teased that Shadow the Hedgehog would “drop by” in Sonic The Hedgehog 3. We’re a little over a month from the film’s release, and many are asking if such “teases” will happen at the third film’s end. If the director is to be believed…the answer is a “yes.”
Director Jeff Fowler happily teased future characters in a chat with Entertainment Weekly. He also said that “fan debates” were fun to see as eager gamers and beyond try to guess who it’ll be:
“It’s fun to see the fan debates online about who’s coming up next, who’s going to be teased at the end of the film. We have a lot of the same conversations. We’ve all got our favorites on the filmmaking side, and we’re all making great cases for ‘it should be this one or that one.’ It is fun to keep that anticipation. This movie is no different in terms of teasing new characters.”
Given Sonic’s expansive history in games and comics, numerous characters could appear in those teases. Metal Sonic and Silver The Hedgehog seem like good potential choices. Then again, if they wanted to expand the roster in “unique” ways, they could always bring in Amy Rose to “shake things up.”
Of course, if Sonic The Hedgehog 3 doesn’t do well, then the teases won’t matter. So, go to the movie and help it get a lot of money!
