Ubisoft Plans To Release A New Assassin’s Creed Game Every Six Months For Next Decade

Ubisoft Plans To Release A New Assassin’s Creed Game Every Six Months For Next Decade

Despite mixed reviews and commercial performance for recent Assassin’s Creed titles, Ubisoft is accelerating its strategy for the franchise, with plans to release a new game in the series every six months for at least the next ten years.

This ambitious roadmap is bolstered by nearly 3,000 developers working on Assassin’s Creed titles, with Ubisoft aiming to cater to a broad audience and satisfy diverse tastes within the franchise.

The information was shared by Tom Henderson during The Xbox Two podcast, where he revealed, “Ubisoft plan to do a new Assassin’s Creed every six months or so for the next ten years, I believe. Shadows and Invictus will be released next year, with Hexe and a Black Flag remake following after that.”

According to Henderson, four titles—Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Invictus, Hexe, and Black Flag Remake—are slated for release between 2025 and 2026, with a central hub called Assassin’s Creed Infinity in development to connect these experiences.

Ubisoft’s plans follow the recent launch of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which, while generally well-received, has seen only moderate commercial success. The upcoming Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which faced criticism during its preview phase, was delayed to February 2025 for further refinement. Ubisoft has reportedly reworked certain aspects of the game and canceled its season pass to better meet player expectations. This indicates a renewed focus on delivering quality experiences, even as Ubisoft pursues an accelerated release schedule.

The Assassin’s Creed franchise has sold over 200 million copies worldwide, making it one of the best-selling series in gaming history. Given its track record of commercial success, Ubisoft sees an opportunity to expand the franchise aggressively, aiming to reach a pace of releases that could surpass even sports titles and other giants like Call of Duty. With substantial resources allocated to the series, Ubisoft’s plan to release two Assassin’s Creed games annually appears to be within reach.
