Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Made Abysmal Profit Overall As New Report Shows

Smaller than a microverse, you could say.

We know it’s hard to remember, but Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania came out in February of 2023, and it was supposed to be the “big opening” to what is called the “Multiverse Saga.” It was the film that introduced Kang The Conquerer and would set up what would happen in the next two Avengers films. Unfortunately, the movie was pretty much cursed from the start. It got mediocre reviews, it had one of the biggest second-week drops in movie history, and once it dropped, it didn’t get back up.

By the time it was done at the box office, things happened behind the scenes that made the movie not only pointless, but moot, as Marvel Studios moved away from Kang and onto Doctor Doom. Fast forward to now, and Forbes released a report breaking down the cost and true revenue of the film, and when all was said and done, it only made about $88 million in profit.

Now, for some, that would be a big profit, but this is an MCU film! They’re expected to make hundreds of millions in profit, not tens of millions. So, what went wrong? Well, a lot. According to those on set, they were getting new pages and fights to film all the time, making it hard to lock down the film.

Plus, the movie was heavy on the CGI, and yet they didn’t really get the time or budget to make it all shine, a common theme in MCU films recently. The story also left a lot to be desired, as it made it seem like Kang, regardless of version, could be easily beaten by Ant-Man, and yet he was to be the villain in of the whole MCU?

The “reset” that is happening now will further take things away from Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Marvel Studios will do its best to recoup more money than this film did. Whether they succeed or not is up for debate.
