Mortal Kombat 1: Ghostface Teaser Revealed

By Kevin KellyOctober 29, 2024

Netherrealm Studios attempted to beat out Halloween with the Ghostface teaser for Mortal Kombat 1. The usual antagonist from the Scream franchise will be coming in as a guest character and it looks like he’ll fit right in. Just ask Johnny Cage and how he took that phone call.

Ghostface was revealed for the Khaos Reigns DLC Expansion trailer earlier last month. For those who have it, Ghostface will be playable starting from November 19th. While no solid gameplay has been shown here, the teaser takes a different turn compared to the other DLC appearances such as Peacemaker. Especially to set the mood for the horror character.

Several scenes of Ghostface are there, but no matches are seen. Just Ghostface haunting the Earthrealm and anyone who gets in his way. Or… their way. Apparently, there are two Ghostfaces in Mortal Kombat 1. As to who they could be is still the movie-ending mystery. I’m guessing it’s Stryker breaking bad.

Guest characters still forthcoming are Conan The Barbarian, and The Terminator‘s T-1000. Return characters such as Noob Saibot, Cyrax, and Sektor, are currently playable from the Khaos Reigns expansion. The expansion also included a story explaining how Noob Saibot came to be in the new timeline. A full trailer for Ghostface, to expand on his kit, is forthcoming.

Mortal Kombat 1 is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC (Steam).
