NYCC 2024: Get a Sneak Peak at Little Nightmares 3

By Andrew AgressOctober 19, 2024
Little Nightmares 3 New York Comic Con

With Halloween approaching, New York Comic Con has a little nightmare in store for attendees. That is to say, Little Nightmares 3 is playable at the convention this weekend. Developed by Supermassive Games and published by Bandai Namco, Little Nightmares 3 will arrive sometime next year. In the meantime, you can check out a demo at Booth 2319.

Like the first two Little Nightmares games, the third installment has players traversing across an eerie terrain as a miniature figure. This time around, make that two miniature figures. In my time with the demo, I played as Low, a raven-masked boy wielding a bow. The AI took over as Alone, a masked girl rocking a wrench. But for the first time in the series, players will be able to play the game cooperatively. The co-op mode will be online only, but only one player needs to own the game for two to play it.

Previously, we went hands on with Little Nightmares 3 at PAX West, playing through a spooky candy factory. This time, the demo has players traverse The Necropolis, a sprawling desert. Either the puzzles have gotten harder, or it’s been too long since I played the first game, but some sections had me stumped. This stretch has little in the way of scares, but it also appears to occur early in the game. Eventually, there will be a monster baby.

And you can take photos with the monster hand of the monster baby at New York Comic Con as well. There’s a large photobooth just to the side of the game area. As mentioned, the Little Nightmares 3 demo isn’t that scary (unless you have a fear of puzzles, in which case, watch out). However, attendees who want something less creepy and kooky can check out a demo for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero.

Previously slated for this year, Little Nightmares 3 will now arrive sometime in 2025 for PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. You can currently wishlist the spooky puzzle-platformer here on Steam.

Andrew comes from the majestic land of New Jersey (the part that doesn't smell). A big fan of sketch comedy, he writes and performs it whenever possible. He gets his powers from listening to indie folk music and drinking aloe water.
