Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Release Date Moved Up a Week

By Sean GarmerOctober 18, 2024
Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii

The saying goes that good things come to those who wait. In video games, the percentage of this being true drops a tad depending on the game series. Thankfully though, the Like a Dragon/Yakuza series is one of the most consistent on delivering both quality and timeliness. The same appears to be true for the series latest title Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii as it is moves up in the release calendar by a week. Previously, the game had a release date of February 28, but now its release date is February 21.

This change was revealed during yesterday’s Xbox Partner Preview event which saw a new trailer unveiled for the game. Along with the aforementioned release date shift, came new footage showcasing main protagonist Goro Majima in naval combat for the first time.

Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii Shows off Ship Combat

Ships can bombard each other while navigating through the water, once conquered by sea, Majima’s crew can board the ship and take out their rivals in Yakuza-style fights. The trailer also provided a look at various summons such as a giant chimpanzee that Majima can call upon during battle. Outside of combat, players can customize Majima’s ship the “Goromaru” or take on various activities on the secret island of Madlantis, including what seems to be naval combat tournaments among other pirate themed fare.

There’s still a lot of time remaining from now until February 21 so most likely we will get more information on Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii as the release date nears. Although it was shown during an Xbox event, the game is coming to PlayStation platforms and PC as well.

If you are looking for more information on games revealed during yesterday’s Xbox Partner Preview, we also have stories on Remedy’s 3-player Co-op First-Person Shooter title, FBC:Firebreak and Bloober Team’s next scary game as they venture into Sci-Fi Horror with Cronos: The New Dawn.
