Monster Hunter Wilds PC System Requirements Revealed

While Monster Hunter Wilds won’t be available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC until February 2025, Capcom has already shared the required PC specs for PC gamers like myself who want to be sure their PCs are up to the task of playing the game. Don’t worry about me, I’m covered.

After reviewing the PC specs, I found them surprisingly modest considering the stunning visuals showcased in the trailers and what I experienced firsthand at the 2024 Summer Game Fest and later at PAX West 2024.

The requirements are higher than those for Monster Hunter World or Monster Hunter Rise, but they are comparable to Dragon’s Dogma 2. Interestingly, frame generation is mentioned under the “Recommended Specs,” but it’s unclear whether this refers to Nvidia’s Frame Generation, which is exclusive to their 4000 series cards, or AMD’s Frame Generation, which supports a broader range of GPUs compatible with FSR.

Keep in mind that these aren’t the requirements to play the game at 1440p or even 4K, which will require more powerful hardware, including the processor, GPU, and possibly more RAM.

Minimum PC Requirements:

  • OS: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit required)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-10600, Intel Core i3-12100F, or AMD Ryzen 5 3600
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Super (6GB VRAM) or AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT (6GB VRAM)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 140GB SSD required

Additional Notes: The game is expected to run at 1080p (upscaled from a native 720p resolution) and 30 fps under the “Lowest” graphics settings. DirectStorage is supported.

Recommended PC Requirements:

  • OS: Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit required)
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-11600K, Intel Core i5-12400, AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, or AMD Ryzen 5 5500
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 Super (8GB VRAM), NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 (8GB VRAM), or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT (12GB VRAM)
  • DirectX: Version 12
  • Network: Broadband Internet connection
  • Storage: 140GB SSD required

Additional Notes: The game is expected to run at 1080p (upscaled from a native 720p resolution) and 30 fps under the “Lowest” graphics settings. DirectStorage is supported. This game is expected to run at 1080p / 60 fps (with Frame Generation enabled) under the “Medium” graphics setting. DirectStorage supported.

I’ll be honest, I don’t like the idea of needed Frame Generation, and by that, either DLSS, FSR or both to hit 60 frames per second. It’s something that I’ve been seeing in more games, where developers are telling players they will need some sort of upscaling to play.

In addition to the minimum and recommended specs, Monster Hunter Wilds will finally support cross-platform play, allowing players on all platforms to join the hunt together. This is something Monster Hunter fans, including myself, have been requesting for a long time. Unfortunately, the game won’t support cross-progression, but we’ll take what we can get.

Capcom revealed that Monster Hunter Wilds will be released on February 28, 2025, just a few days ago, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. I don’t know about you, but I’m counting down the days until I can dive into this new adventure. With all the exciting changes it brings, I can’t even go back to playing Monster Hunter World anymore!
