PocketPair Confirms Palworld Will Remain Buy-to-Play, Dismissing Free-to-Play Rumors

Some recent statements from the Palworld team caused confusion among fans, sparking rumors that the game might transition to a free-to-play model. To address these concerns, the developers issued an official statement to clarify the situation.

In a post on the official X/Twitter account, PocketPair firmly stated, “We are not changing our game’s business model. It will remain buy-to-play and will not become free-to-play or a game as a service.” This response came after comments from CEO Takuro Mizobe, in which he discussed the potential benefits of the free-to-play model for extending the life cycle of games. However, the company quickly dismissed the idea for Palworld.

Regarding the Future of Palworld

The developers further clarified that although they are exploring ways to sustain the game in the long term, Palworld was never designed with a free-to-play structure in mind. “It would require too much work to adapt the game at this point. Additionally, we are very aware that this just isn’t what our players want, and we always put our players first,” they added.

While PocketPair ruled out the free-to-play model, they are still considering introducing skins and DLC in the future to help support the game’s development. The team reassured fans that any decisions will be discussed openly with the community before implementation.
