Director Hideaki Itsuno Leaves Capcom After 30 Years

After more than 30 years with Capcom, Hideaki Itsuno, the renowned director behind hit games like Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma, has announced his departure from the company.

Itsuno shared the news on X/Twitter, expressing gratitude to fans for their continued support. “At the end of August 2024, I will be leaving Capcom after 30 years and 5 months,” Itsuno wrote. “Thank you for your long-term support of the games and characters I have been responsible for. I hope you will continue to support Capcom’s games and characters.”

Looking ahead, Itsuno hinted at exciting new projects in the pipeline. “From September, I will start developing a new game in a new environment,” he stated. “I hope to create fun, beautiful games that are as memorable as, or even more memorable than, the ones I have created so far.” Details about his new endeavors remain scarce, but fans are already eager to see what the acclaimed director will create next.

Throughout his illustrious career, Itsuno made significant contributions to some of Capcom’s most beloved franchises. He directed multiple titles in the Devil May Cry series and both Dragon’s Dogma games, including the critically acclaimed Dragon’s Dogma 2. Capcom fans will certainly miss his unique creative vision, but there’s no doubt Itsuno’s next project will be one to watch.
