Shadow of the Ninja Reborn Demo Released for Xbox and Nintendo Switch

By Keith MitchellAugust 5, 2024
Shadow of the Ninja Reborn

Back in 2024, we reported that Natsume was working on a remake of its NES classic, Shadow of the Ninja, titled Shadow of the Ninja Reborn, as part of its ongoing Tenjo Project. With the game’s release approaching, the developer has launched a demo for Xbox and Nintendo Switch. However, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 owners will need to wait until later this month for their demo. There’s no news on a PC demo; if I were to speculate, it might not be available on PC due to… well, you know.

The full release of Shadow of the Ninja Reborn is set for August 29, 2024, across all platforms, and will be priced at $19.99.

Shadow of the Ninja Reborn will feature the following when it gets released:

  • An Arsenal of Deadly Weapons: Caltrops, shuriken, and more! Departing from the NES original, Hayate and Kaede will have an expanded variety of weaponry!
  • Jungle of Concrete and Steel: 5 completely recreated stages featuring devious traps and challenging platform puzzles. Plus, a 6th entirely new stage!
  • Two Ninjas are Better Than One: Grab a friend and get ready for the critically acclaimed couch co-op!
  • A Fresh New Look: Beautiful modern in-game sprite art as a faithful update to the 8-bit original!
  • Bringin’ It Back to the 90’s: Feast your eyes on the key visuals and characters illustrated by Dynamic Productions, the same remarkable illustrators of the original 90’s title!
  • A Star-Studded, Rockin’ Soundtrack: Play along with the legendary Hiroyuki Iwatsuki and Iku Mizutani’s electrifying guitar riffs and fast-paced retro melodies.

Shadow of the Ninja was one of my favorite NES games growing up, and I have fond memories of playing it with my cousins. While the remake won’t turn back time, seeing the updated, stylish sprites and knowing that Natsume is giving the game the respect it deserves is all I needed. This one’s definitely going on my “I can’t wait to get my hands on this” list.
