Hideki Kamiya Feels That Okami Development Team Was “Weak”

When A "Dream Team"...isn't one.

Hindsight is a very interesting thing, and it can showcase how we feel about things after a long period of time. For Hideki Kamiya, he might be one of the people to ever make games, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have regrets about certain titles he was a part of. For example, many who played the game Okami might recall how fun the title was and the unique way it did things. For Kamiya, though, while he was proud of some things with the game, he didn’t like everyone that worked on it.

These aren’t random words, though, he did a special video with one of his team members from the title, and he noted that the team behind it, Team Clover, was supposed to be a “Dream Team” of sorts. But…it didn’t turn out that way:

“Okami was supposed to be Clover Studio’s signature title. That’s why we wanted to create a dream team. It was supposed to be a dream team with all the best staff in each section. That was the plan, but in the end, not everyone, but as the whole team, I frankly think it was weak.”

To be fair, Hideki Kamiya did state that some members of the team, including the one he did the video with, did pull their weight and helped make the game fun, but it wasn’t the “Dream Team” he hoped for, and it’s easy to sympathize with that.
